National Cup News
It was a mixed bag for Limerick Desmond sides involved in national cup competition last weekend. In the twelves national cup both local sides advanced to the fourth round of the competition. At Riverside Park Ballymackey were visitors but on the day Abbeyfeale Utd were that bit stronger and recorded a four one win with goals from Oran Dooley, Ethan O’Connell, Oran O’Connell and Aaron Kelly. In the fourth round Abbeyfeale will be away to Holycross or Aisling Annacotty. Granagh Utd are also through with a five one win at home to Herbertstown. They were three up at half time with James McCarthy netting a hat trick and Paul Murphy extended this in the second half from the penalty spot. James McCarthy made it five nil before the visitors got a late consolation. In round four Granagh will be at home to Newport Town.

There was no joy for Abbeyfeale Utd in the fourteens cup as they went down five one at home to Aisling Annacotty having trailed two one at half time with a goal from Cathal Woulfe. No luck either for Newcastle West Town in the sixteens national cup, losing two one away to Charleville whose goal came from Aaron Mullane.
