Cork (1) 1

Limerick Desmond (0) 0

While the score line read one nil to Cork, for large parts of this game the Limerick Desmond girls were on top but couldn’t make the breakthrough and put this on the scoresheet.

The Desmond girls started the better team and in the first minute Katie Lawlee made a fine run down the right wing only to be fouled on the edge of the area with the resulting free kick just wide of the post. Soon after this Lawlee, who was a constant threat, got on the end of a great through ball from Alibhe O'Connell and delivered a fine cross to Rachel O'Connor whose header was again just off target. On the quarter of an hour mark we found ourselves a goal down, and it must be said was against the run of play after a rare break by the Cork girls. Spurred on by the goal Cork came more into the game and started to play some passing football. Credit to the Limerick Desmond girls they didn’t drop their heads and finished the half strong with another shot on goal in last seconds of the first half.

The second half started in similar to fashion to the first with the Desmond girls causing problems for Cork but unable to make the possession count. Cork then got on top for a period and some fine saves from Kelsey Quinn in goals kept the score at one nil. Overall, the second half was an even affair with both teams creating chances but neither managing to hit the net.

The game finished one nil to the hosts. Disappointment for the Limerick Desmond girls but there are a lot of positives to be taken from the game. Their next game will be against South Tipperary.
